Getting Started
What's in the Box
- DCM-1 Piano Climate Monitor device
- USB-C power cable
- Power adapter (5V, 2A)
- Sensor pad cable
- Quick start guide
- Mounting accessories
Initial Setup
- Download the PianoCloud app from the iOS App Store on your iPhone (requires iOS 15 or later)
- Create an account using your email address
- Connect the DCM-1 to power using the included USB-C cable and adapter
- Wait for the device to boot (approximately 30 seconds). The Power LED will turn solid green when ready
- Connect sensor pads to the designated port on the DCM-1
Note: The DCM-1 must be connected to your WiFi network to function. During first boot, the device will create a temporary WiFi network (SSID: DCM-1-SETUP-XXXXX) for configuration.
Adding Your First Device
Method 1: QR Code Scan (Recommended)
- Open the PianoCloud app and tap the "+" button in the Devices tab
- Tap "Scan QR Code"
- Point your iPhone camera at the QR code on the back of your DCM-1 device
- The device will be automatically added to your account
Method 2: Manual Entry
- Tap the "+" button and select "Enter Manually"
- Enter the Device ID found on the label (format: DCM-1-XXXXXXXXXXXX)
- Give your device a friendly name (e.g., "Living Room Piano")
- Tap "Add Device"
Understanding LED Indicators

Water detection sensor. Yellow flash indicates water/moisture detected on sensor pads. |

Sensor pad integrity check. Red flash indicates disconnected or faulty sensor pads. |
Warning: If you see a flashing Water LED, immediately check your piano and the surrounding area for moisture. Remove the DCM-1 from power if water is present and contact support.
Using the PianoCloud App
Dashboard Tab
The Dashboard provides an at-a-glance overview of all your devices:
- Total Devices: Count of registered DCM-1 units
- Online: Devices currently connected and reporting
- Offline: Devices that haven't reported in 5+ minutes
- Low Battery: Devices with battery backup below 20%
Devices Tab
View and manage all your DCM-1 devices:
- Tap any device to see detailed status and settings
- Use the search bar to find specific devices
- Pull down to refresh device status
- Swipe left on a device to remove it
Device Detail View
Tap a device to see:
- LED Panel: Real-time visualization of Power/Water/Pads status
- Battery Status: Current battery voltage and percentage
- WiFi Signal: Connection strength (Excellent/Good/Fair/Poor)
- Last Updated: Timestamp of most recent data
- Device Info: Device ID, firmware version, uptime
Alerts Tab
View notification history:
- All fault notifications (Power, Water, Pads)
- Battery low alerts
- Device offline/online events
- System notifications
Settings Tab
Configure app preferences:
- Enable/disable push notifications
- Email alert preferences
- Battery alert threshold
- Account management
- Privacy policy and terms
Managing Notifications
Enabling Push Notifications
- Open iPhone Settings → Notifications → PianoCloud
- Enable "Allow Notifications"
- Enable "Critical Alerts" for fault notifications (bypasses Do Not Disturb)
- Choose your preferred alert style (Banner or Alert)
Notification Types
- Critical: Power fault, water detected, sensor pad fault
- Warning: Low battery (below 20%), weak WiFi signal
- Info: Device offline, device back online, firmware updates
Troubleshooting
Device Won't Connect to WiFi
- Ensure your WiFi network is 2.4GHz (5GHz is not supported)
- Check that your WiFi password is correct
- Move the DCM-1 closer to your router
- Restart your router and try again
- Factory reset the DCM-1 (hold reset button for 10 seconds)
Device Shows Offline in App
- Check that the device has power (Power LED should be lit)
- Verify your internet connection is working
- Power cycle the device (unplug for 10 seconds)
- Check if router firewall is blocking port 8883
- Pull down to refresh the app
False Water Alerts
- Check sensor pad connections are secure
- Clean sensor pads with dry cloth (no liquids)
- Ensure sensor pads are not touching metal objects
- Replace sensor pads if damaged or worn
Battery Draining Quickly
- Ensure main power is connected (battery is backup only)
- Check WiFi signal strength (weak signal uses more battery)
- Battery degrades over time - consider replacement after 2 years
